Who signs Foundation checks?

  • 1.  Who signs Foundation checks?

I have a question for foundations that are support organizations for a university/college and where all employees (advancement/development) including the ED for the foundation are university/college employees.

What position(s) with the foundation or university has the authority to approve and sign checks issued by the foundation?

Thank you in advance for your response.

    Hi Shelby,

Only foundation Officers and a few other foundation trustees can sign university employees.

Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Eastern Oregon University has adjusted to remote access and has ultimately implemented a reduction to classified staff work hours. Your inquiry is very important to me and I will respond to you as quickly as possible. If you need immediate assistance, please contact University Advancement at 541-962-3740. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we move through these unprecedented times.

The short answer is those individuals authorized in writing by the Foundation Board of directors to execute contracts and enter into financial arrangements.  These approvals/authorizations are commonly outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Foundation and University.
