We currently have access to both IWave and DonorSearch wondering which is preferred for prospect research and why (we need to cut our subscription budget).

I [normally] don't get involved in picking "favorites."  I let others do that :-).

Due to budgetary reasons, we had to drop WealthEngine because of its triple price increase. I did a pretty extensive comparison between iWave and DonorSearch. We are a small local liberal arts college without a lot of big donors/famous people. I found that iWave found our people much better than DonorSearch. I had many bad hits with DonorSearch. I think it has to do with their search criteria, which is based on giving, not on address. Needless to say, I chose iWave. But that's just how it worked out for us.
