Ellucian Advance and Workday

    Hello,

    Our university's finance department is in the process of converting to Workday from Oracle.  The finance department has decided to re-number/change all of our gift revenue accounts.  In Oracle, we were able to tell at-a-glance if an account was a restricted or endowed.  In Workday, that is no longer possible with the new numbering system.  Has anyone encountered these issues?  If so, what solutions did you implement?

    In my experience, I have never relied on recognizing from the financial system coding for those types of characteristics . . . Used to coding those characteristics on the advancement side of the data to assure appropriate advancement identification of what an account represents (e.g. restricted, endowed, capital, current use)

    Of course it's appropriate for the financial system to distinguish that and it is advancement's responsibility in communicating the type of fund it is, but 'recognizing' the coding from the financial data is not a recommendation in my experience . . . i.e. see how you can 'recognize' whether an account is restricted or endowed from the data in Ellucian Advance.
