Hot Topics Signup Clean Up and October 1 Call: Gifts-in-Kinds and Donor Recognition

  • 1.  Hot Topics Signup Clean Up and October 1 Call: Gifts-in-Kinds and Donor Recognition

    Posted 21 days ago

    Hello, Hot Topic Friends,

    What is Hot Topics?

Hot Topics in Gift Compliance and Donor Relations is a monthly call, lead by panelists (panelists change each month depending on the topic) and hosted by me (Sarah Thomas) discussing current topics that everyone is having issues with within the industry. We can have anyone from 60 to 150+ people join a call to discuss monthly topics. I usually send out a GoogleDoc for everyone to add their questions but questions can be asked during the call and anyone can speak, even non-panelists. Calls are not recorded because it provides a space for everyone to talk about sensitive topics. Anyone can suggest a topic for the month. We usually schedule topics a few months in advance.

Important Announcement #1: Hot Topics Invite Cleanup

It is time to clean up the Hot Topics call invite list. We have had over 550 people sign up for the call within the past year and a half. I am getting lots of bounce-back emails. For me to clean up the list, I will need to delete the current invite and resend a new invite.

For all that are currently signed up, there are three ways that you can join our call:

    1. Resign up via this form. This will ensure that you will get updates on the call, a calendar invite, and emails. (Note: If you are not on a Google email platform, then you will receive an email invite update every time I update the list. This is a Google flaw.)
    2. Look for updates on my LinkedIn account, AASP Connect, and ADRP listserv and the link will be located on these platforms monthly with the topic.
    3. Independently save the link, registration, and passcode below but you will need to track the dates of the call independently. To register, go here. This is free and is just a video call. NC State now requires a passcode, which is 458387. If you register and use the link it might not ask you for the password.

For anyone who does not want to be on the list, you will be removed if you do not renew your signup.

I want to apologize for all the calendar invites and for not being able to delete people from the invite list. NC State is on the Google platform and Google does not play well with other platforms, so if I change it on my end, it might bounce back and not change. In addition, if someone is on a non-Google platform and I update the calendar invite and ask not to email everyone, it will only not email Google platform users.

I am still currently looking for a new platform to host these calls that would be easy for everyone to join. Any suggestions are welcome.

The cleanup will start after the October 1, 2021 call.
