Historical Price for AAPL stock before stock split

  • 1.  Historical Price for AAPL stock before stock split

We received a gift of Apple stock on 8/25 when each share was roughly valued at $499. The stock was split on 8/31 (with 1 share becoming 4 shares with 4 shares having the same value as the original single share, as I understand it).

I'm trying to value the stock we received on the 25th when it was at $499-ish but now every site I've been to lists the lower price for the day, or $125 per share.

What is the best way to value it? Can someone point me to a site where the old values are? Or do I need to calculate the average by adding up what the high was that day ($125.18) and multiplying it by 4 to get $500.72?. The bank who transferred it sent a letter stating the high that day was $500.72 so I think my plan to simply multiply by 4 should be accurate (or that I can just use the figures the bank provided).

    Just thought I'd check, thanks!
