Gifts from Deceased Person - how do I acknowledge?

  • 1.  Gifts from Deceased Person - how do I acknowledge?

    Posted 28 days ago

We had a constituent that recently passed, and we received a gift from their checking account today (the same account the donor has written from for years now) and it was signed by their daughter.

Under normal circumstances, we would receipt the name at the top of the check, but we can't receipt someone who has passed.

How do I process this check? Under his daughter's name? Where do I enter it and to whom do I send the acknowledgment?

    Thank you for your assistance.

Record the gift on the record of the deceased.  Create a new alias name for the record called Estate of [Name].  Mail the receipt to that name and address, ICO the daughter.
