DAFs in the New Global Guidelines

We are in the process of reviewing all of our source logic and roll ups, and I'm a little bit unclear on how the new Global Guidelines treat DAFs. On page 46, the guidelines state, "The gift source is reported as an 'other' organization (if the sponsor is not an official foundation) or a "Foundation" (if the sponsor is a recognized community foundation or other grantmaking foundation). However, page 286 states, "Count donor-advised fund contributions from sponsors other than community foundations in the 'Other Organization' category".

So my question is where do I count gifts from DAFs through financial services companies such as Vanguard or Fidelity? Page 46 makes me think 'Foundations' since the DAF there only exists to make grants. However page 286 seems to say that if it isn't a recognized community foundation, then it should be an 'Other Organization'. If the answer is 'Foundations', then what examples would fall under 'Other'?

Am I overthinking this? Thank you.

This is where making a "global" edition has some shortcomings.

Page 46 is in the global section.  Page 286 is in the US supplement.  When in doubt, always follow the US supplement.

Keep in mind that previously, DAFs always counted as "Other Organizations" - particularly for reporting the VSE.  Therefore, other than community foundations, I think it best to continue to use the "other" category.
