Over the years we have entered quite a few relationships added between organizations that are sending us the gift and the individuals who should receive soft credit. This has been done to help the gift entry people know who may have initiated the gift (and other reasons). For example:  ABC Foundation sends us a gift but John Smith is the person who request for the foundation to send us the gift. These are gifts from private foundations (not DAFs). If you do this, what are you calling the relationships? For example, if the relationship was a familiar one, it would be parent/child. What are you using for text in these "giving" relationships? I don't like the text we are currently using.

    Thanks for any ideas!
    Trisha

In Ellucian Advance, there is dedicated functionality for this relationship, called "Covering Accounts". On the record of the Foundation, these are entered as "Covered Entities".  Advance also includes functionality to soft-credit any covered entities whenever a gift is received from the covering organization.

My US$0.02 worth; the usual disclaimers apply.

    Good luck!
