VSE Report

    Hello,

I am looking to see how other higher education institutions report the Alumni numbers? Do you break down the numbers between those who have graduated and those who attended, but did not graduate?

When you calculate your Alumni participation rates do you report just Alumni who graduated or include both students who graduated and those who attended, but did not graduate?

    Thanks,

    Sharon

The VSE requires us to break down the numbers into three categories:
    • Degreed Undergraduates
    • Degreed Graduates
    • Non-degredd alumni
CASE/VSE asks for raw numbers.  However, they reflect the US News & World Reports mandate for calculating alumni participation as the number of undergraduate degree holders making legal donations, divided by the total of all undergraduate degree holders "of record."  That excludes those who are deceased and for whom you have no way of contacting (they are lost - not simply coded as "no contact.").

    PS

See pages 75 & 76 of the CASE Guidelines.  And also not that USN&WR requires following the same criteria.  Meaning, whatever you report to one should be the same for the other.
