Good site for valuing stock

Does anyone have a good (free) website that you use for valuing gifts of stock?  We have used BigCharts.com in the past and generally like it, but the advertising imagery is often quite shocking. Looking for an alternative.

    Thanks!

BigCharts is my favorite.  I ignore the ads.  They are what make the site free.

Yahoo Finance is pretty good.  It has ads, too:

We've had a practice of including a copy of the BigCharts page with the receipt to the donor (which just lists the stock name and quantity of shares).  Is this best practice?  And if so, any concern with editing the page so that the Ads don't show?

    Thanks

You should NEVER tell donors how to value their gifts.  Per the IRS (Publication 1771) you should only provide a description of what they gave and exclude all valuation information.

I would discontinue your current practice.  If you absolutely feel you must include valuation information add only a statement along the following lines to your receipt:

    Stock Gift Receipt Disclaimer

Thank you for your gift of X shares of Y stock, which we have valued for our internal purposes only at $Z as of MM/DD/YY.  For tax purposes, you will want to seek guidance from a tax professional in determining your deductible amount.

You can try a browser-based ad-blocker extension. I use AdBlock Pro, which is free, and makes browsing the web a much less cluttered, much faster and more pleasant experience. It works very well on the BigCharts

The last time I looked, AdBlock was a Chrome add-on.  Do you have a version that works on Firefox?

Or maybe you are talking about Adblock Plus (not pro) - which I have not tried.

uBlock Origin is a great adblocker for both Chrome and Firefox. I've been using it for years.

That's right, Plus, not Pro: Yes, I use it: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/

    Works fine in Firefox.
