Private Held Stock Valuation

    Good afternoon,

     

    Does anyone know of a method to valuate privately held stock? I did some research and what I found indicated we should we get an appraisal from the donor? Aside from that, any other methods?

    You can use an appraisal, but you cannot force that.

    CASE (page 273) suggests identifying the most recent cash purchase price.  Absent that - or anything recent - just ask the CPA who maintains the books for the corporation.
