Corporate foundations

    Hello! According to CASE global reporting standards, company-sponsored foundations should be report as Corporate giving.  Is there a trick to identifying these or can we assume that any foundation which includes a corporate name is sponsored by that company? For example, a gift from GEICO Philanthropic Foundation is automatically considered Corporate?

    No - you cannot make that assumption.  Many standalone Foundations - like the Ford Foundation - were established as independent organizations and not as affiliated foundations.

    The CASE Standards in the past have offered other examples of similar cases.

    When in doubt, you can look the foundation up in Guidestar/Candid - or contact the foundation directly.
