FMV for Sponsor giving tickets to staff to attend

    Hello all.

    If an event sponsor wants to give the tickets he would normally receive as sponsorship benefits to a staff member, would his gift be fully tax deductible since he (the sponsor) is not, in fact, receiving any benefits?

    I know this has been answered before but I was not able to locate the thread.

    The sponsor has to receive the tickets in order to give them away.  And in the described scenario they are going to a specific individual meaning they are not a GIK.

    So, no, this would not revert the payment to full deductibility.
